Greater Lynn Senior Services adds Russian Personal Directive

Greater Lynn Senior Services (GLSS), an Honoring Choices Community Partner, helps seniors and individuals living with disabilities connect to needed care on the North Shore, including Russian speaking adults and families.  GLSS staff were already using the Honoring Choices Russian Health Care Proxy to help adults choose a Health Care Agent, but needed its "sister document", the Personal Directive, to tell their Agents what they want for care.

"Having linguistically and culturally appropriate tools makes all the difference in helping adults understand their right to appoint an Agent and write down their care instructions",  says Holly Jarrell-Marcinelli, LICSW, Director of Consumer Services,  "and also be able to talk with their care providers to manage their wellness."

Holly and GLSS Certified Russian Medical Interpreter, Elena Kantor offered to translate the HCM Personal Directive and "5 Things to Talk About with Your Care Providers" discussion guide into Russian.  Not only do the GLSS  Health Care Planning Ambassadors and staff use the multilingual tools successfully in their community, but their generosity helped us provide the translated documents to all adults and care providers statewide.

We are so grateful to our GLSS Community Partner for working together to further access to planning and equitable care for all adults. You can find the translated documents on the Multi-lingual Documents webpage.
